Loufeng belongs to SIP which since its development, experts from China and Singapore mapped out the optimized environment plan for it. They integrated functional sub-district, concentrated control, separated flow of rain and sewage, clean energy, green corridor and other principles into its general and detailed provision. SIP successively financed more than 2 billion RMB in a batch of high-standard and government-friendly infrastructures. Up to now, green coverage in SIP amounts to 45%.

·ISO14000 environment management exemplary zone

Launched in Aug 2000, the construction of ISO14001 environment management system has involved all departments and stuff of the administrative committee of SIP. According to ISO14001, they carefully carry on system preparation, system structure design, initial environment assessment, system document compile, system testing run and other works. Any problem can be in-time prevented and corrected through a 3-layer monitor system, i.e. day-to-day monitor and measure, internal audit as well as management assessment, in a bid to perfect this system. In Jul. 2001, accredited and approved by experts from audit center of China’s environment management system in State Environmental Protection Administration, ISO14001 passed the final appraisal and received certificate of ISO14001 from China and UKAS alike. At the meantime, in Dec 2001, SIP was granted the honor of ISO14001 National Modal Zone.

ISO14001 witnesses the apparent effect. On one side, ISO14001 helps stuff of the administrative committee raise awareness of environmental protection, further standardize management and boost the efficiency, and finally push forward the ongoing environmental protection and other related work.

On the other side, environmental indexes stated by the administrative committee are well achieved. Comprehensive environment rebuilding project around Gold Rooster Lake has been completed 80% of the annual plan, with 75 million RMB direct construction capitai. Aquaculture in the lake has been suspended, with an allocation of 7M RMB for displacement of aquaculture farm. SIP added 60,000 sq m new green land to achieve a total green coverage of 1.8M sq m. Environmental infrastructure has been further improved. At the same time, pipeline networks of rain, waste and gas has been constructed along with roads, with an injection of 12M RMB. This year, standard noise control zone and smoke control zone have ascended to a higher step, with 2.6 sq km of more land under construction.

Additionally, by means of energy conservation and cost cut, consumption of business paper in organizing committee has declined by 8%, which saves money as well as protects the environment.

ISO14001 also elevates the image of SIP’s environment, posing positive effect on business promotion. Most of the enterprises which enter into SIP recently are free- or mild-pollution ones specializing in advanced semi-conductor or electronics. That is of most importance to optimize and adjust its industrial structure.
