Firm foundation: Wu Culture originates in Suzhou, which is praised as “luxuriant talents and affluent writers are second to no one over the country” since the ancient time. From Spring and Autumn Period to the end of Qing Dynasty, Suzhou topped the country in the number of Juren, Jinshi and Zhuangyuan, revered as “half top scholars and writers are from Suzhou”. In contemporary China, talents emerge now and then in Suzhou, featuring about 100 academicians of both Academies.
Rich resources: Currently, there are 9 universities of various kinds, 46 adult education institutes, 63 independent scientific research institutes around Suzhou. There are also 310,000 professional technicians of different majors at work, and each year 50,000 new workforces who received moderate-above education flow into job markets. Of these, ten thousand people are migrating Ph.D., masters and bachelors, including many overseas professionals.
